The Craftsmen Training Scheme was introduced by the Government of India in 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the domestic Industry, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable skilled training, to cultivate and nurture technical and industrial attitude in the minds of the younger generation. The scheme, the most important in the field of Vocational Training has been shaping craftsman to meet the existing as well as future manpower need, through the vast network of ITI in the various state/ Union territories in the country.
No. of ITI are imparting technical and vocational training in Haryana under the agies of Industrial Training department Haryana. ITI Meham was established in August 1979. Training was started in few trades such as Fitter, Turner, Electrician and welder with intake capacity of 60 trainees. It is having total land 12 Acre 4 Kanal 6 Marla and situated on NH – 10 Delhi – Hissar Highway at 34 KM Mile Stone. It is well connected with roads to the surrounding area. Institute is having Spacious & Equipped building, Lawns and Grounds.
But in 1994 was shifted in its own building of approximate 9 acre area with a well equipped workshop, administrative block and academic block with all training facilities. IMC society of ITI, Meham was formed on dated 26/02/2008 with registration NO. 280 under society’s registration act in the scheme of upgradation of 1396 Govt. ITIs through PPP scheme M/S Career Launcher India Ltd. is the Industry Partner. The aim of IMC society is to improve the Quality of Training and Development of Infrastructure in the ITI to develop the skill of trainees to match the requirement of Modern Industry.
Now the Institute provides training in 20 trades and 43 Units approximate 600 students.

To introduce Industrial Training among youths to empower them for fruitful employment through high level practical training to enhance the productivity of formal and non formal sector of Indian economy as per the requirement of Industries as well as public and private sectors.
